Beliefs & Polity

At Second New Light we believe in the Tri-Union or the Holy Trinity, consisting of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and The Holy Spirit the Comforter. The ordinances which we observe are Baptism and Holy Communion. Christ submitted to baptism by John the Baptist prior to beginning his earthly ministry. Therefore we believe baptism symbolizes being reborn in the likeness of  Christ and inclusion into the Christian family. The other ordinance which we observe is Holy Communion, this is one of the final commands that Christ gives his disciples before his crucifixion, that they partake in the eating of the bread and drinking of the cup, in remembrance of his sacrifice at the Cross of Calvary.

The governance  of the Second New Light is congregational in type and operates under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We believe that each member has a voice in the decisions of the church and we honor majority rule.
